SEED Capital Investment Credit
The SEED Capital Investment Credit Program is meant to promote innovative businesses in Minnesota border cities near North and South Dakota. If you invest in a qualifying business, you may qualify for a nonrefundable credit.
Who Qualifies
To qualify, both of these must be true:
- You invested in a business located in Breckenridge, Dilworth, East Grand Forks, Moorhead, or Ortonville

The business is certified by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED)
Credit Amount
The credit is 45% of your amount invested in the business, up to $112,500 a year. You may carry the credit forward up to four years.
Claim the Credit
Complete Schedule M1C, Other Nonrefundable Credits. Enter the credit amount from your credit certificate from DEED. Include the credit certificate and Schedule M1C when you file your Minnesota return (Form M1, Individual Income Tax).
