field_block:node:landing_page:body

The Minnesota Department of Revenue will work with individuals and businesses that cannot file or pay their taxes on time due to a natural disaster. We’ll post tax information on our website and notify the news media.

Penalty and Interest Forgiveness

The IRS issued Tax Relief declarations for recent severe storms in Oklahoma (February 8), Texas and Louisiana (February 11), Kentucky (February 27), and Alabama (March 25), and Tennessee (March 25).

You may ask us to forgive penalties and interest if these storms kept you from filing or paying Minnesota taxes on time for returns due through the following dates:

  • Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana: June 15, 2021
  • Kentucky: June 30, 2021
  • Alabama and Tennessee: August 2, 2021

Call us to request this relief. For phone numbers, see Contact Us.

For details of the IRS declarations, see the IRS Tax Relief in Disaster Situations page.
