Property Tax Statement Instructions for County Treasurers

All county treasurers should use the following forms, instructions, and materials to prepare property tax statements for taxes payable in 2019. Materials for the following taxes payable year are available by November 1 each year.

Taxpayers can get a copy of their property tax statement from their county treasurer. The county treasurer can answer any questions you may have about the statement. For contact information, check your local phone book or see County Websites on Minnesota.gov.

Due Dates

If your county mails its real and personal property tax statements: then:
on or before the March 31, 2019 deadline ​
  • the due dates on the back of the tax statement and payment stubs apply
after March 31, but on or before April 24, 2019 ​
  • the first taxes due date is May 15, 2019
  • the first tax penalty date is May 16, 2019
on or after April 25, 2019
  • the first taxes due date is 21 days after the property tax statement is postmarked
  • the first tax penalty date is 22 days after the property tax statement is postmarked  AND
  • you must include a flyer notifying taxpayers of the extended dates
