Licensure Education for Assessors

Individuals seeking licensure must complete licensure courses approved by the Board of Assessors. The board's approved course list is below.

The file below lists approved courses to become a Minnesota assessor or to upgrade an existing license. Online courses and seminars are noted.
Note: Two 15-hour courses may be eligible as equivalent to the 30-hour Management and Leadership course that's required to be licensed as a Senior Accredited Minnesota Assessor (SAMA). The courses must be board-approved.
To request approval for an assessment- or appraisal-related course or seminar, you must submit a course approval request to the Minnesota State Board of Assessors.

Sponsoring Organizations must submit the Request Form for Course Approval. The request must include a course outline, description, and the anticipated timeline for each topic.

Submit requests at least 60 days before course/seminar attendance date to ensure the board can act on your request before the course/seminar is attended.
