Senior Accredited Minnesota Assessor (SAMA)

• License — an active AMA license
• Courses
  • Mass Appraisal Basics (if not completed at the CMA level)
  • Assessment Administration
  • 30 hours of Management and Leadership Courses*

* Note: Per the board's policies, post-secondary management courses may be considered an equivalent. Any post-secondary degree or professional certificate submitted for approval must have been received within 8 years of applying for the SAMA license.

• Income Reports, Exams, and Designations (complete one of the following options)
  • Income Case Study Exam
  • Income Demonstration Narrative
  • MAI or CAE Professional Designation
     

• Assessment Experience — Five years of assessment experience

• Oral Interview (if not completed at the AMA level) *

  * Note: Per the board's policies, all SAMA requirements must be completed, including the 5-year assessment experience requirement, before an oral interview can be scheduled. Email assessors.board@state.mn.us to schedule an interview during an upcoming board meeting.

2. Email assessors.board@state.mn.us to schedule your Senior Accreditation oral interview during a scheduled board meeting. The board's administrator will provide guidance for completing the application process, including when to submit an application and pay the licensing fee.
