Household Income for the Property Tax Refund

field_block:node:page:body

Your “household income” affects whether you qualify and how much you can receive for the Homestead Credit Refund (for Homeowners) and Renter's Property Tax Refund (Form M1PR).

New for 2019: If you received alimony but were not required to report it in adjusted gross income, you must include this amount in your household income. If you paid alimony and were not allowed to deduct payments, you are allowed to reduce your household income by the alimony paid. See the instructions for lines 5 and 10 regarding alimony payments.

What is household income?

Generally, household income for the property tax refund includes your federal Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) plus nontaxable income. You may claim certain subtractions on Form M1PR to help you qualify for a refund or increase your refund amount.

How do I calculate my household income?

See the line instructions for Form M1PR.
