Mortgage Registry Tax American Indians Exemption

A mortgage encumbering real property located within the historic boundaries of the reservation of a federally recognized American Indian tribe is exempt if one of the following is true:

The tribe, or a member of that tribe, is the mortgagor.

The mortgagor is purchasing the property from that tribe or a member of that tribe and the mortgage is a purchase-money mortgage.
