Sales and Use Tax for Local Governments

This webinar is designed for local government administration. We will provide information to help understand what a local government needs to do to make purchases exempt from sales tax. We will also discuss the taxability of common local government sales, charging the appropriate tax rate, and the documentation that is required if your customer is claiming an exemption.

As a result of the training, learners will be able to:
- Identify who qualifies for the local government exemption
- List what products and services sold by a local government are subject to sales tax
- Identify what a local government can purchase exempt from sales tax
- Recognize when a purchasing agent agreement is appropriate
- Employ good recordkeeping practices to ensure you report and pay the correct amount of sales and use tax
- List several resources that answer sales and use tax questions
