Lawful Gambling Tax Excel Template

Open the spreadsheet named Gambling Monthly Tax Return Import File Template (see File Lawful Gambling Tax Electronically).

• In row 2, enter the required G1 and Worksheet E information. Use the column descriptions to determine what information you must enter. Note: If you report exempt raffles, e-Services will calculate net receipts and ER credit.
• In row 4 and below, enter each barcoded game on a separate line. You can include all game types and site locations in the same spreadsheet.

• Do not use commas.
• Round to nearest dollar.
• Record Type: Enter G1-B2 for each game.
• Type of Operation: Enter BOOTH = Booth; BAROP = Bar-op, or PTDISP = Pull-tab dispenser
• Type of Game: Enter P = Paper Pull-tabs; PW = Paddlewheels; T = Tipboards; PT = Progressive tipboards; PP = Progressive pull-tabs; RB = Raffle Boards, or SB = Sports-themed tipboards.
• Game Status: Enter 1 = Played; 2 = Missing; 3 = Defective; 4 = Destroyed with Revenue Approval; 5 = Fund Loss Games Destroyed by Revenue; 6 = Reported as Fund Loss
• Manufacturer ID: Must be two alpha characters.

Before you import the file into to e-Services you must save it as a Text (.txt) file format. First, you must save it as a Comma Delimited (.csv) file and then convert it into a .txt file.

1. Delete rows 1 and 3 which contain the header detail. The only information in your file should be the data you entered.
2. Save the file as a .csv file. Select File>Save As. In the Save as type: drop down, select CVS (Comma delimited) and select Save.  
3. Close the Excel file.
4. Open the .csv  file in Notepad. Find the file, right click on the file name and select the Open with>Notepad.
5. Select File>Save, to save it as a .txt file.

Remember to keep a copy of the spreadsheet in case you need to file an amended return in the future.

To import your file, log in to e-Services and select Returns and Periods for your Lawful Gambling Tax account. Select the File Return link for the appropriate filing period and select Import Your Data.
