Basic Tax Information
The Minnesota Department of Revenue has basic tax information for people who are starting a business.
The following information should not be considered all-inclusive. Other steps may be appropriate for your specific type of business.
- Business taxes and fees
- Minnesota Tax Identification Number (MN ID)
- Minnesota Laws, Statutes, and Rules
- Basic federal tax information from the Internal Revenue Service
Note: If you’re buying an existing business or its stock, you must notify us before the transfer or you could be liable for tax debts we are collecting from that business (see Successor Liability).
