Occupation Tax Grace Period
As the state continues to respond to COVID-19, the Minnesota Department of Revenue will grant a 60-day payment grace period for Occupation Tax annual payments due May 1, 2020. These payments are now due July 1, 2020.

We will not assess penalties or interest during this grace period so long as full payment, or 90% of the amount due for extension filers, is paid by July 1.

This grace period only applies to payments. You should still file your annual Occupation Tax return by May 1, unless you plan to file under the extension guidelines. Returns filed on extension are still due December 1, 2020.

You can also request relief from penalty and interest for late payments for reasonable cause or if you are negatively impacted by COVID-19. See Abatement Information for Businesses.

See Our Response to COVID-19 for more state tax updates and information.
