Tax Law Changes

field_block:node:landing_page:body

When state tax laws change, we share updates and guidance as soon as they are available. For the latest information:

2026 Legislative Session

The 2026 Tax Bill, signed into law May 27, made a number of changes to the state tax code (Minnesota Laws 2026, Chapter 128).  Major changes include:

  • Increasing the state property tax refund for homeowners for tax year 2025
  • Extending the Pass-Through Entity Tax for two years (through tax year 2027)
  • Aligning Minnesota with most federal tax provisions as of May 1, 2026

We are reviewing these and other tax law changes and their impact on our customers. We will update this page as more information is available.

Homestead Credit Refund Increase for 2025

The tax bill increased the 2025 Minnesota property tax refund for homeowners by nearly 15%. We are updating our systems to reflect this change. Meanwhile:

  • Homeowners who already filed for a 2025 Homestead Credit Refund do not need to do anything else. We will adjust your return to include the increase.
  • Other homeowners can still file their 2025 returns during this time. We will adjust your return if needed.

For more information about this change, read our June 5 announcement.
