2019 Filing Season for Tax Year 2018 FAQ

>Return to Tax Law Changes page

Since the end of the 2018 Legislative Session, the Minnesota Department of Revenue has been working to update the state tax filing systems for taxpayer use in 2019. This process happens annually, starting after the end of the legislative session. This year, we will update the tax filing systems to accommodate the differences between the federal and Minnesota tax laws. There were significant revisions to the federal tax laws, but Minnesota’s tax laws have not significantly changed.

The information included on this page will help answer your questions about the 2019 filing season for tax year 2018.

As we work to update our tax system to accommodate the differences between Minnesota’s tax code and federal tax law, we are gathering frequently asked questions from our customers. We have heard your questions and will do our best to answer them here.
