About the Board of Assessors

The State Board of Assessors is composed of nine members appointed by the Commissioner of Revenue. The board:
- Reviews, supervises, coordinates and approves courses in assessment practices
- Establishes criteria for determining assessor's qualifications
- May grant, renew, suspend, or revoke an assessor's license
Mission Statement
Promote public trust in the Minnesota property tax system and provide oversight of assessor licensing, continuing education, and ethical conduct.
Vision Statement
Minnesota property assessment is equitable, uniform, and transparent.
