field_block:node:page:body

The Electric-Assisted Bicycle Rebate (e-Bike Rebate) is designed to reduce the cost for eligible Minnesota residents to buy a new e-bike at approved retailers.

Individuals (buyers) and retailers must apply to the Minnesota Department of Revenue to take part in the program. Total rebates are limited to $2 million for 2025.

Application Period has Ended
The e-Bike Rebate application is now closed. We will allocate rebate certificates through a random lottery. We expect to notify all applicants of the results by email by August 21, 2025.

What's New for 2025

New legislation for the e-Bike Rebate program was passed for 2025. New requirements include:

  • Individuals must now be under a certain income level or have a disability to qualify
  • The rebate is worth 75% of eligible expenses, up to $750 off the cost of a new e-bike
  • Rebates will be allocated using a random lottery

We expect to issue about 2,700 to 2,800 rebates in 2025, depending on specific rebate amounts for participants.

About the Rebate

The e-Bike Rebate is worth 75% of your qualifying expenses, up to $750. It’s calculated using:

  • The sales price of a new e-bike (including assembly fees, if charged)
  • Certain accessories purchased at the same time

If approved for the program, you will receive a rebate certificate to give the retailer when you buy an e-bike. The rebate value cannot exceed the price of the e-bike.

You must report the amount of the rebate on your 2025 individual income tax return.
