Amending a Property Tax Refund

The deadline for filing Form M1PRX is 3.5 years from the due date of the original Form M1PR, Homestead Credit Refund. 

Example: 2025 Form M1PR is due August 15, 2026. You must file 2025 Form M1PRX by February 15, 2030.

If you amend your return, you will receive or pay back the difference plus interest.
If your amended return:

• Reduces your refund, calculate interest from the date you received your refund
• Increases your refund, calculate interest from one of these dates, whichever is later:
  • 60 days after you filed the original return
  • August 15 for renters or September 30 for homeowners

You may file Form M1PRX before we process your original return. This could delay your refund while we match up and process your original and amended returns.
