Electric-Assisted Bicycle (e-Bike) Rebate

field_block:node:page:body

The Electric-Assisted Bicycle Rebate (e-Bike Rebate) helped reduce the cost for eligible Minnesota residents to buy a new e-bike at approved retailers. Total rebates were limited to $2 million for 2025. All rebate certificates have been allocated and this program is now closed.

Note: If you received and used a rebate certificate in 2024 or 2025, you must report the amount of the rebate on your Individual Income Tax return for that year.

About the Rebate

For 2025, the e-Bike Rebate was worth 75% of qualifying expenses, up to $750. It was calculated using:

  • The sales price of a new e-bike (including assembly fees, if charged)
  • Certain accessories purchased at the same time

Applicants who were approved for the program received a rebate certificate to give the retailer when buying an e-bike. The rebate value could not exceed the price of the e-bike.

How do I report the rebate on my income tax return?

If you received and used a rebate certificate, we sent you Form 1099-MISC for the value of the rebate. Use this form when filing your income tax return.

What if I did not get a rebate in 2024 or 2025?

The number of rebate certificates issued in 2024 and 2025 was limited by funds available in the program. The program is now ended, and there will not be any future application periods.
