The Minnesota Department of Revenue offers volunteer opportunities throughout Minnesota for those that are interested in preparing tax returns. Multilingual persons interested in translations and/or tax preparation are needed as volunteers also.
Volunteers are needed February 1st – April 15th to provide tax assistance to people with disabilities, low income, limited English-speaking abilities, and senior citizens.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) provides free tax assistance at community locations (usually evening hours and Saturdays). Volunteers complete simple tax returns for low-income, disabled, non-English speaking and elderly people. This program is supported by the Minnesota Department of Revenue and
AccountAbility Minnesota.
AARP Tax Aide provides free tax information and tax return preparation for elderly taxpayers. They also serve low-income, non-English speaking people, and the disabled. These sites are usually open daytime hours on weekdays only. This program is supported by the
AARP. AARP will reimburse volunteers for their program-related out-of-pocket expenses.
