About This Page

In December, your city or county will receive a payment from the state of Minnesota for property tax aids and credits. A portion of this payment represents the full-year amount of market value credits or other credits paid to Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts in your city.

The market value credit amount will be identified as “MV CREDIT TIF” on your advice. The document below lists the payment amount by district to help you properly distribute these credits to TIF districts in your city.

In some cases the name that the city uses to identify a TIF district is different than the name the county reports to the state. If you have difficulty identifying the TIF name in the table, please contact your county auditor.

Note: These credits are considered to be tax increment and therefore subject to the restrictions of the TIF Act. The funds must be treated accordingly, which includes being separated from other funds. View the statute (M.S. 469.174, subd. 25).
