State Assessed Property Forums

The Department of Revenue typically hosts two State Assessed Property Forums each year, in the fall and spring. At these forums, we discuss valuation and capitalization rate methodology with company representatives and other stakeholders. See below for more information about upcoming and past forums.

Past Forums

2017 Fall Forum

We held the 2017 State Assessed Property Fall Forum on November 1, 2017, at the Department of Revenue. We invited county assessors and auditors, and company representatives of state assessed property. See below for a list of attendees and a copy of the presentation. 

2017 Spring Forum

We held the 2017 State Assessed Property Spring Forum on March 8, 2017, at the Department of Revenue.  

This forum focused on fostering discussion about the Capitalization Rate Study and the factors that affect the cost of capital in the utility, pipeline, and railroad industries. We invited company representatives, academic professionals, employees at the Minnesota Department of Commerce and Public Utilities Commission, appraisers, and assessors.

2016 Fall Forum

We held 2016 State Assessed Property Fall Forum on November 2, 2016 at the Department of Revenue. 

This year’s Fall Forum focused on improving communication, data exchange, and working relations between the counties, companies, and state. We invited county assessors and auditors and company representatives of state assessed property.

2016 Spring Forum

We held the 2016 State Assessed Property Spring Forum on March 3, 2016.  This forum focused on capitalization rate topics. The format of this forum was discussion based. There were no department presentations.
