Filing for the Homestead Credit Refund (for Homeowners)

What is the filing due date?

The due date for filing your Homestead Credit Refund (for Homeowners) return (Form M1PR) is August 15. If the due date falls on a weekend or legal holiday, your return is due by the next business day.
Note: You may file Form M1PR and claim a refund for up to one year after the original due date. If you file later, you will not receive a refund.

When can I expect  my refund?

Every return we receive is different, so processing time will vary. You can check on the status of your Property Tax Refund after July 1 by using our Where’s My Refund system. You can follow your return through the refund process. When we are finished, you will see the date your refund was sent.
