The Minnesota Department of Revenue will temporarily stop collection action on tax debts owed by active duty military personnel – including National Guardsmen and reservists – and their spouses.
Debtors must request that the department suspend collection and provide the department with a copy of their military orders to prove their eligibility.
The department will stop collection action for eligible debtors as follows:
- If on active duty: for the duration of the active duty, plus six months.
- If injured in a combat zone during active duty: for the duration of the hospitalization due to that injury, plus six months.
