What records should I keep?

Keep all internal and external records that supports the amounts reported on your MinnesotaCare Tax return.  Examples include:

  • Bank Statements
  • Explanation of benefits (EOB's) for Medicare, Other Government, and FEHBA/TRICARE
  • 1099's for Medicare, Other Government, and FEHBA/TRICARE
  • Detailed records of non-patient receipts (rent, refunds, dividends, etc.)
  • Audited or compiled financial statements
  • Legend drug invoices
  • All other summary and detail reports, schedules, ledgers, and journals
  • The Department of Revenue may deny exemptions if any of your documentation is incomplete or missing.  Keep the records for at least 3 1/2 years after the due date of the original return or the date the original return was filed.
