Extension Payment

When your organization files under an extension, you're still obligated to pay any tax due for that period by the regular return due date.

Estimate the amount of tax you owe and make a payment electronically or by check. Click here for information on electronic payment options. If you choose to pay by check, you must use our e-Services Payment Voucher System to create and print the payment voucher. We must receive the voucher, payment and extension request by the return due date.

If you underestimate the tax liability, you may be assessed penalty and interest on the unpaid amount. Any tax not paid on time is subject to penalties and interest

Note: If you don’t pay electronically when required, we'll apply a 5 percent “payment method penalty” to any payments you make by check . You must generally pay all Minnesota business taxes electronically if you paid more than $10,000 of any one business tax during the previous fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
