Extension Payment

When your organization files under an extension, you still must pay any tax due by the regular return due date. If you do not, you may be assessed penalty and interest

Estimate the amount of tax you owe and make a payment. If you choose to pay by check, you must use a payment voucher. (See e-Services Payment Voucher System). We must receive the payment and extension request by the return due date.

If you underestimate the tax liability, you may be assessed penalty and interest on the unpaid amount.

Note: If you do not pay electronically when required, we will apply a 5 percent “payment method penalty” to any payments you make by check. You must generally pay all Minnesota business taxes electronically if you paid more than $10,000 of any one business tax during the previous fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
