​The Minnesota Department of Revenue offers free classes for businesses. Click the links below for a course description and registration information.

This course is an introduction to the Partnership and S Corporation taxes and the related obligations for Minnesota purposes.  It is designed for business owners, bookkeepers, and accountants who need general knowledge of the requirements of registering and filing for these tax types. 
 

Sales and Use Tax Education Workshops

  • Basic Minnesota Sales and Use Tax
    This course is an introduction to sales and use taxes in Minnesota. It is designed for business owners, bookkeepers, purchasing agents and accountants who need a working knowledge of the law and how to meet their obligations.
  • Capital Equipment and Industrial Production
    This course is for businesses located in Minnesota that make products ultimately sold at retail. It is designed for business owners, bookkeepers, purchasing agents, and accountants who need a working knowledge of how sales and use taxes in Minnesota relate to product makers and the manufacturing process.
  • Minnesota/North Dakota Border Issues
    This course provides an overview of Minnesota and North Dakota sales and use tax laws for companies that do business in both states. It is designed for business owners, bookkeepers, purchasing agents and accountants who need a working knowledge of each state’s laws and how to meet their obligations.
  • Minnesota/South Dakota Border Issues
    This course provides an overview of Minnesota and South Dakota sales and use tax laws for companies that do business in both states. It is designed for business owners, bookkeepers, purchasing agents and accountants who need a working knowledge of each state’s laws and how to meet their obligations. 
  • Minnesota/South Dakota Contractor Border Issues
    This course provides an overview of Minnesota and South Dakota sales and use tax laws for contractors working in both states. The course is designed for business owners, bookkeepers, purchasing agents and accountants who work for construction firms operating in both states. The focus is on helping contractors understand each state’s laws and how to meet their obligations.
  • Minnesota/Wisconsin Border Issues
    This course provides an overview of Minnesota and Wisconsin sales and use tax laws for companies that do business in both states. It is designed for business owners, bookkeepers, purchasing agents and accountants who need a working knowledge of each state’s laws and how to meet their obligations.

Withholding Tax Education Workshops
This free seminar is presented by IRS, Minnesota Department of Revenue, Unemployment Insurance Program, and Workers’ Compensation Insurance experts. It will give you a guided tour through the complex maze of state and federal employment tax and other reporting requirements.
