Taxpayers affected by recent spring flooding or Winter Storm Wesley get more time to file and pay their Minnesota taxes

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Taxpayers in 64 Minnesota counties and 3 tribal nations who were affected by the rapid snowmelt flooding or Winter Storm Wesley will get extra time to file Minnesota returns and pay Minnesota taxes, the Minnesota Department of Revenue announced today.

This applies to individuals and businesses that are in the following tribal nations:

Prairie Island Indian Community, Red Lake Band of Chippewa, and Upper Sioux Community.

This also applies to individuals and businesses that are in the following counties:

Anoka, Beltrami, Becker, Benton, Big Stone, Blue Earth, Brown, Carver, Cass, Chippewa, Chisago, Clay, Cottonwood, Dakota, Faribault, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Grant, Hennepin, Houston, Isanti, Jackson, Kittson, Lac Qui Parle, Le Sueur, Lyon, Marshall, Martin, McLeod, Mille Lacs, Mower, Morrison, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Norman, Olmsted, Pennington, Pipestone, Polk, Ramsey, Red Lake, Redwood, Renville, Rock, Scott, Sherburne, Sibley, Stearns, Steele, Stevens, Swift, Todd, Traverse, Wabasha, Wadena, Waseca, Washington, Watonwan, Wilkin, Winona, Wright, Yellow Medicine.

Affected taxpayers in these locations who have Minnesota tax returns or payments due from April 11 to April 16 will not be assessed penalties or interest if they file and pay their taxes by April 22, 2019. This includes Individual Income Tax returns and payments that are due on Monday, April 15, 2019.

This only applies to Minnesota taxes.
