Cancel a Payment

In some situations, you can cancel a payment you made to the Minnesota Department of Revenue.
Canceling a payment depends on how you made it.

If you made a payment while logged in to e-Services, you have until 5 p.m. Central Time on the day the payment is to be processed to cancel it in e-Services.
To cancel:
- Log in to e-Services with the account you used to make the payment.
- Select I Want To...
- Select Search for a request link on the History card.
- Select the payment you would like to cancel from the list.
- Select Cancel Payment. If Cancel Payment is not available, select Cancel.
Note: If you made a payment with a return, selecting Cancel may cancel the return and payment.
If you scheduled a payment using Online Services without logging into an account, you have until 5 p.m. Central Time on the day the payment is to be processed to cancel it.
Note: This only applies to bank account payments. You cannot cancel credit or debit card payments.
You should have received an email with a confirmation number. You can use the confirmation number and the email address to cancel it:
- Go to Online Services.
- Select Search for a confirmation number.
- Enter your confirmation number and email address used to submit the payment.
- Select Search.
- Select Cancel to cancel the payment.
You may have to repeat these steps if you scheduled multiple payments.
If you scheduled a payment on your Minnesota Individual Income Tax return, please contact us to cancel your payment before the scheduled date.
