About the Board
The State Board of Assessors establishes reviews, supervises, coordinates and approves courses in assessment practices. They also establish criteria for determining assessor’s qualifications. The board also considers other matters relating to assessment administration brought before it by the commissioner of revenue. The board may grant, renew, suspend, or revoke an assessor's license.
The board is composed of nine members appointed by the Commissioner of Revenue. The purpose of the board is to educate, license, and regulate the professional conduct of assessors in order to provide the taxpayers of Minnesota with a fair and equitable valuation of their property.
