    Minnesota does not require state driver’s license or ID card information. Providing or not providing this information will not affect processing time.

  • I received an error message that says “the electronic filer identification (EFIN) is not registered with Minnesota. Otherwise, EFIN is missing from the summary record.” Do I need to register my EFIN with Minnesota?Back to top

    Minnesota does not have a separate EFIN registration from the IRS. When the IRS approves and issues an EFIN, it is automatically set up with Minnesota. Please contact your tax software support for additional help.

  • Why did the Minnesota Department of Revenue reject my return with error rejection code 0005?Back to top

    We require that every return prepared using professional software must include a PTIN. In some cases, a user may enter the PTIN in the software, but it does not appear in the electronic transmission. To resolve this, choose the return designation of “paid return” in your software so the PTIN will be present in the electronic return.
