    You must apply to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to get a liquor license.  Call them at 651-201-7507 for more information.​

  • What is a "liquor posting?"Back to top

    You're placed on Department of Public Safety's Posting of Tax Delinquencies for Liquor, Wine & Beer Sales (or "liquor posting") when you're at least 10 days late filing your liquor tax return or paying your tax. While you're on the list, you can't buy any liquor, wine or beer from your distributors. ​

  • Do I need to pay tax on alcohol I bring back from another state or country?Back to top

    Any person over 21 years of age entering Minnesota from another state may carry one liter of intoxicating liquor or 288 ounces of fermented malt beverages without the required payment of Minnesota excise tax, provided the alcoholic beverages accompany the person into the state and will not be offered for sale or used for any commercial purposes.

    Any person over 21 years of age entering Minnesota from a foreign country may carry four liters of intoxicating liquor or ten quarts (320 ounces) of fermented malt beverages without the required payment of the Minnesota excise tax, provided the alcoholic beverages accompany the person into the state and will not be offered for sale or used for any commercial purposes.​
